Sara E Stessel

Prior to starting Chartreuse Fine Art Consultants, Sara Stessel worked exclusively in the Arts. After graduating from UCLA (BA in Economics, MA in Art History), she began her career at Butterfield & Butterfield, the West Coast based auction house, where she gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in fine arts, antiques, silver and decorative arts.

The global network of contacts she has developed during her years in the auction world, combined with her in-depth knowledge of the art and antiques market (locally, nationally and internationally) has given Sara a rare knowledge and understanding of the marketplace for fine art, paintings, sculpture, furniture, and silver.

With over 28 years of experience working with fine art (paintings, photography, prints, sculpture), silver, antique furniture, and the decorative arts, Sara has extensive experience in writing appraisals for insurance, estates and donations. She also has proficiency in the disposition of property in divorce cases as well as handling insurance damage claims and estate property evaluations.

Sara has been tested in USPAP , the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, and remains current in all ISA requirements. She regularly takes continuing education courses to keep up with the marketplace.
